Asan, also called Ason or Asan Tole, is a traditional, market and residential square in central Kathmandu. It is one of the most prominent historical sites in the city, famous for its bazaar. It is known as one of the finest examples of a traditional Asian bazaar. Six different streets converge at Asan causing quite a bit of hustle and bustle. The bazaar at Asan attracts shoppers from all over Kathmandu because of the wide variety of merchandise available here, ranging from foods and spices to textiles and electronics.
This weekend our photowalk was at Asan bazaar. Here are a few selected photographs taken by the participants of photowalk, followed by our official video of the event.
